It's not only lovers who hit a snag in their love story. Writers do, too! We all look for love, yet love itself remains a mystery—likely the reason why we find ourselves stuck at some plot point, just when we thought we had a great love story.
Ask yourself: how do two people fall in love? When can we say that someone actually is in love? What obstacles will truly test the love of two people? Why would one person forgive another? How can two people stay in a relationship for a long time or—gasp!—as long as they both shall live? Heck, what really is love?
We’ll tackle these questions and more in How to Write Love Stories, a six-hour crash course. Going beyond the classic love story formula, we’ll look into the core of romantic relationships and extract the principles that make love true and meaningful for the people involved.
How to Write Love Stories is taught by Dr. Joem Antonio. As a playwright, he has written stories on love that have won him a few Palanca Awards. He has a Ph.D. in Creative Writing from UP Diliman and is currently the Program Director of the MA Humanities program at the University of Asia and the Pacific.
